Rendezvous With Rubio
The rain was bein' shot between them buildings like tiny pieces a' hot molten lead
Fired from the guns of delinquent school children escapin' from Public School 666...
Yeah...It's Friday night in New York City
We just got done stealin' ourselves a 1967 Pontiac GTO
Yeah, we were gonna take it an cruise on down,
Down to check out that there rumble goin' on in ol' Puerto Rico town.
Yeah there's a rendezvous with Rubio it'll be goin' on tonight
At the corner of 42nd at the stroke of midnight
Miguel is bringin' all his boys with those bats, chains and knives
Rubio says he's got a zip gun so tonight no one survives.
Yeah, never shoulda stole that car and taken it for that ride
Well it belonged to Rubio - that's why that sucker died
And now there's gonna be blood spilled somewhere tonight
Nobody's gonna be lookin', and even the cops stay outa sight.
Off to the rumble we're gonna steal a car and cruise yeah
It's Friday night in New York City ain't no way we gonna lose
Stoppin' in at Manny's we're gonna get ourselves some brews
No doubt someone is gonna die before the night is through.
Yeah well into Puerto Rico town some mamasitas standin' there
With them gleamin' white teeth and that dark curly hair
Rubio says "You need a ride?"- they said they didn't dare
But jumped in anyway, we stole away from there.
Off to the Bowery cuttin' through the city life
Well Rubio's in the back seat just a sharpenin' his knife
The night air sweet and fresh right after that pourin' rain
Stabbin' them Friday night wishes to go bleedin' down the drain.
Yeah, well Miguel is waitin' there all his boys are crowdin' round
Well Rubio makes his stance he ain't givin' up no ground
Out come those bats and chains just a swingin' high and low
Them bullets come a screamin' loud everyone turns to go.
The cops showed up man so there ain't no goin' back
Some are left there dyin' the rest slip through the cracks
And as he's leavin' Rubio yells "Man you know it ain't over yet!"
Miguel turns and shouts back "My boys 'n I won' forget!"
Yeah so they save it all for another Friday night
Miguel's rendezvous with Rubio with that rumble and that fight
Well is it ever gonna end or does everyone have to die
All for jackin' that car and takin' it for that ride.
Oh yeah man that's the way it came down last Friday night
Manny and I, we took that 1967 Pontiac GTO
We stripped it clean and left it sittin' there on blocks
Caught ourselves a cab and found them mamasitas
And went back into the bowels of Puerto Rico town.
